Indian Hockey Comeback | Why did Hockey lose popularity to Cricket? | Tokyo Olympics

The Olympics are just around the corner and the entire nation is rooting for the Indian Hockey Team to make a comeback. After years of struggling, the team seems to be on the right track and with the Tokyo Olympics in sight, we cant help but feel hopeful for the future of Indian Hockey.

Having said that, it is important to discuss why Hockey lost its popularity to Cricket. It is a fact that Hockey once held a prestigious position in Indian sports. In the early 20th century, Hockey was the most popular sport in India and the Indian Hockey Team dominated international competitions. This was mainly due to the fact that Hockey was the national sport of India at the time. However, things started to change in the 1950s when Cricket started to become increasingly popular in India. The cricket teams success in the 1983 World Cup was a major factor in the rise of cricket and it quickly overtook Hockey in terms of popularity. This trend continued to the present day and now Cricket is the most popular sport in India. As far as the Indian Hockey Teams chances are concerned in the Tokyo Olympics, all eyes are on them. The team has been performing well in recent competitions and it is hoped that they will be able to make a successful comeback in the Olympics. The team has a lot of potential and all that is needed is for them to believe in themselves and make the most of the opportunities that come their way. The Tokyo Olympics is undoubtedly an important milestone for the Indian Hockey Team and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the competition. We hope that they will be able to make a strong comeback and regain the glory that Indian Hockey once held.
