#Operation Dost | India Rescue Team in Turkey Earthquake

 


On the afternoon of Friday, January 24th, 2023, a devastating earthquake shook the Elazig province of Turkey, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8 on the Richter scale, and the resulting tremors were felt as far away as Syria and Greece. In response to this tragedy, the Indian government quickly sprung into action, sending a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel to Turkey to assist in relief efforts. The team, dubbedOperation Dost, was led by NDRF Director General Dr. SN Pradhan and comprised of over 200 personnel and 34 tonnes of relief materials.

Upon arriving in Turkey, Operation Dost quickly began to assist with the search and rescue efforts. Using the latest technology and techniques, the team was able to locate and rescue over 500 survivors from the rubble. In addition to the search and rescue operations, the team provided medical aid to those affected and distributed relief materials such as food, water, and medication. The team also worked to identify and provide shelter to those who had been displaced by the disaster. The Indian governments efforts to help those affected by the earthquake were praised by the Turkish government.
